IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION (APRIL 03, 1995)
Mazama Software Labs, Inc. Announces the Mazama Packet Filter
Bellevue, Washington, April 03, 1995. Today Mazama Software Labs,
Inc. (MSL) launches their intial product release, the Mazama Packet
Filter, an easy to install and configure firewall that requires
virtually no maintenance.
The Mazama Packet Filter:
The Mazama Packet Filter filters incoming and outgoing IP packets
based on human recognizable rules. This allows filtering TCP/IP
services such as incoming and outgoing ftp, http, gopher, finger,
telnet, etc. Specific filter rules based on any TCP/IP packet
attributes can be added via the X-based user interface.
Extensive configuration options allow complete filtering of IP, ICMP,
TCP, and UDP packets. It provides accurate and secure logging of all
firewall events, though legitimate users of the local network will see
no degradation in performance, even when they access resources outside
the local network.
The Package:
The Mazama Packet Filter package includes:
o The Mazama Packet Filter software
o The InfoMagic Linux CD
o An installation program that installs both Linux and the Mazama Packet
Filter software under Linux on a 386, 486 or Pentium machine, reducing
the firewall's cost and eliminating the need for off-site routers
putting the control of your network security in your hands.
Pricing and Availability:
The Mazama Packet Filter will be generally available on April 15th, at
an introductory price of US$750.
