HI!

Find a new release of web2ldap with minor fixes and enhancements on

       http://www.web2ldap.de/download.html

Ciao, Michael.

***** web2ldap 0.10.7 *****
Release Date: 2002-06-22
Changes since 0.10.6:

   New features
           * Introduced new host-/backend-specific parameter
requested_attrs which defines a list of attributes
explicitly requested when doing a search, read or
             modify operations.
   Changes in UI
           * [Read] in main menu enforces the entry to be flushed
from cache and read freshly. A new form input
parameter read_nocache was introduced for that.
   Bug fixes
           * The DN Unicode object was not properly encoded when
calling DelTree() in w2lapp.delete which caused an
exception when doing a recursive delete with a base DN
             containing NON-ASCII chars.

Date: 25 Jun 2002 13:40:11 GMT

Partboot-usb: partitioning tool suitable for laptops.

I have been working with the modification of "Partboot",
a bootable disk of "GNU Parted", so that it can boot off of
USB floppy drives, by adding some laptop-oriented functionalities:

    http://www19.u-page.so-net.ne.jp/sc4/tshiono/partboot-usb/

Now the Partboot-usb has been updated to include Parted-1.6.1.

send mail to <brave-gnu-world-request@gnu.org> with "subscribe" in
the *body*. The mailinglist is only for announcements that are related
to the "Brave GNU World" and is of very low volume (between 1 and 2
mails a month).

The 40th issue covers the following topics:

 * Minkowsky        [ Managing time-space ]

 * Webminstats [ Monitor your systems over the web ]

From: OpenRADIUS <openradius@evbergen.xs4all.nl>
Subject: Announcing OpenRADIUS 0.9.4
Date: 25 Jun 2002 13:40:21 GMT

Hello everyone,

Long overdue but arrived at last: OpenRADIUS version 0.9.4. This is a
release that contains a few major bugfixes, including a long standing
one that mandated some incompatible changes to the behaviour language.

See the release notes at
http://www.xs4all.nl/~evbergen/openradius-download.html#relnotes-0.9.4

>From the changelog at
http://www.xs4all.nl/~evbergen/download/openradius-0.9.4/CHANGELOG

- Put real, registered OIDs in distributed sample LDAP schema
- Fixed CERT CA-2002-06 vulnerability #2
- Fixed conversion operator mess in language
- A number of bugfixes and improvements in the behaviour language:
  * actually implemented the conversion from string to date;
  * date + int sets current type to date;
  * IP address + int sets current type to IP address;
  * 'and', 'or' synonyms for '&&', '||';
  * divide by zero just aborts expression, instead of killing server
  * fixed '!' behaviour on strings;
  * made date conversions to/from strings use localtime() instead of
gmtime(). Run the server with TZ set to UTC if you want the old
    behaviour.
- Good cleanup of meta_buildtree()

Get it at
http://www.xs4all.nl/~evbergen/openradius-download.html

As always, please let me know if you encounter any problems when
building or running this version on your platform.

Kind regards,

Emile.

Subject: The Programmers Editor
Date: 25 Jun 2002 13:40:28 GMT

The Programmers Editor was specifically designed for editing source code.
This means that it does the common tasks of line-oriented editing quickly
and easily. It does not mean that the editor understands programming
language syntax. That is left to the programmer.

Some of the features of the editor follow.

It is a console application, not a GUI.
Designed for Personal Computers. Uses the function and alt-keys effectively.
Simultaneous editing of many files. Copy and paste between files.
No limit on file size.
Very fast search and replace.
Not customizable, but the commands are intuitive.
Tab and Enter keys are for movement in replace mode. In insert mode, tabs
are space-filled so any tabsize can be used portably. Option to use the tab
character if needed, as required in UNIX makefiles.
Has some limited binary file editing capability.
The editor is very small, about 100K bytes.

Available for Win32, linux, and OS/2.

There is no charge for the Programmers Editor.

From: Kaz Kylheku <kaz@ashi.footprints.net>
Subject: Re: Meta-CVS 0.14
Date: 25 Jun 2002 13:40:31 GMT

Meta-CVS is a layer of software intended to create a more intelligent
version control system on top of CVS.

Changes between 0.10 and 0.14:

- Bugfixes:
  - don't rely on CVSROOT environment variable when invoking cvs rtag
  - mcvs remove was broken in 0.10
  - degenerate case: status, diff, etc. work correctly in empty project
  - pass -I ! to cvs import to prevent some files from being ignored
    by default
  - mcvs add was broken in 0.7 over files that have no suffix

- Enhancements:
  - command for switching branches
  - command for listing branches
  - absolute paths can be used as arguments; they are resolved
    relative to project root
  - checkout -d supported to populate existing directories
  - consequently, checkout is careful about clobbering existing files
  - directory restructuring (moves, removes) can now be done
directly on the sandbox filesystem using system commands or
other software; new mcvs remap command notices and incorporates
    these changes

With Meta-CVS, developers can restructure a project's file hierarchy
in different ways in parallel, and then merge the structure. Moreover,
the structure is tagged as part of a software release. Retrieving
an old release gets the old structure. Updates from the repository
automatically rearrange the sandbox to match the new structure.

File types are handled interactively when adding new files
or importing to create a new project.

Branching and merging is simplified; ``mcvs branch foo'' creates
a branch called foo, ``mcvs merge foo'' merges new stuff added
to foo since the last merge to the current branch,
``mcvs sw foo'' switches to branch foo.

Meta-CVS currently has these dependencies: GNU/Linux, /dev/urandom,
glibc2, CLISP.

From: robotti@godmail.com
Subject: Announce: CRUNCHbox - create multi-call binary
Date: 25 Jun 2002 13:40:38 GMT
Reply-To: robotti@godmail.com

###########################################################################
CRUNCHbox v1.1.7 Kent Robotti <robotti@godmail.com> 6-24-2002

http://www.tux.org/pub/people/kent-robotti/looplinux/rip/index.html
###########################################################################

A crunched binary is a program made up of many other programs linked
together into a single executable. The crunched binary main() function
determines which component program to run by the contents of argv[0].
The main reason to crunch programs together is for fitting as many pro-
grams as possible onto an installation or system recovery disk.

mkcrunch reads in the specifications in a config-file for a crunched
binary, and creates the crunched executable file from the component pro-
grams. crunchbox uses the program crunchide to eliminate link-time
conflicts between the component programs by hiding all unnecessary
     symbols.

This program is similar to the BSD program called `crunchgen'
     from the `crunch' package.

You should have the programs you want to crunch already compiled
in a directory.

For example, in the source directory I have the util-linux and
e2fsprogs packages.

crunchbox/source/util-linux# ./configure ; make

Copy crunch-files/crunch.util-linux to the util-linux directory.
crunchbox/source/util-linux/crunch.util-linux

crunchbox/source/e2fsprogs# ./configure ; make

Copy crunch-files/crunch.e2fsprogs to the e2fsprogs directory.
crunchbox/source/e2fsprogs/crunch.e2fsprogs

If you want a shell and some small programs, you can conpile
the sources in source/ash and source/busybox.

crunchbox/source/ash# make
crunchbox/source/busybox# make

To compile them against uclibc, do this.
crunchbox/source/ash# make uclibc
crunchbox/source/busybox# make uclibc=true

Compile and install crunchide.
crunchbox/crunchide# make ; make install

Create crunchbox binary. It will ask you what programs from the
util-linux, e2fsprogs, ash, and bb packages you want to crunch.

crunchbox# ./mkcrunch -static -d source

You can put more than one directory after `-d'.
Example: mkcrunch -static -d directory1 directory2 directory3

It will create a `crunch-programs' file based on your choices.
You can use it next time instead of choosing the programs again.

crunchbox# ./mkcrunch -static -f crunch-programs

Put `-static' as the first option if you want the crunchbox
binary to link statically with libc.

Put `-uclibc' as the first or second option if using \`-static',
if you want the crunchbox binary to link with uclibc.
You must have uclibc installed in `/usr/i386-linux-uclibc'!
uclibc# make ; make install
Example: crunchbox# ./mkcrunch -static -uclibc etc.

There are crunch config files in the crunch-files directory
for a number of programs. You may need to make minor changes
to a crunch file, if there are changes in the source package
that the crunch file is for.

Read the crunch-files/* files to see how it works,
and for any compile instructions. You can create
crunch files for other programs.

Read specifically crunch-files/crunch.util-linux.

NOTE: There is another option `-rf'.
If you have a incomplete crunch-programs file, but it at
least has PROGRAMS_BEGIN and PROGRAMS_END, you can
reread it and not have to choose the programs again.

      crunchbox# ./mkcrunch -static -rf crunch-programs

If there is no SOURCE_DIRECTORIES listed in the crunch-programs
file, or you want to add a directory to the source directories
      listed there.

      crunchbox# ./mkcrunch -static -rf crunch-programs -d source_directory

The `rf' option can also be used with a complete crunch-programs file,
if you made any changes to it and want it to be reread.

NOTE: The directory containing the source for any program should be named
without it's version number, for example `util-linux' not
`util-linux-2.11r' etc. That way when there's a new version
of the program, you won't need to make any changes to the way
it's listed in the `crunch-programs' file.

The mkcrunch script requires the `dialog' program to run!
