Date: Wed, 13 Jun 2001 15:49:27 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
General:
The CoreLinux++ Abstract Framework Library (libclfw++) is a meant to
facilitate the development of commonly used frameworks for C++
applications. It does this by building upon the CoreLinux++ base library
(libcorelinux++) and providing common classes and the abstractions of
frameworks for extension.
CoreLinux++ (http://corelinux.sourceforge.net) is an initiative to
normalize methods and conventions for OOA/OOD/C++ development for Linux,
materialized in documentation, OO analysis and design models, and a set
of Open Source C++ class libraries to support common patterns,
frameworks, and exploit the C++ standards.
News:
Schemas and Persistence
=======================
This release includes refinements in the ability to resolve a MetaClass
from Ontologies. New methods (both static and instance) have been added
which accept string names and unique identifiers.
In addition, we have added the support for applications to extend Schema
as well as describing that class to the SchemaCatalog so as to ensure
proper instantiation.
Tarball:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/corelinux/libclfw-0.2.8.tar.gz
RPM:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/corelinux/libclfw-0.2.8-1.i386.rpm
Release Notes:
http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=37822
CoreLinux++ and libclfw++ use the LGPL license to minimize restrictions
on application use and extension.
Full details of the project can be viewed from our the home page at

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
WORKSTATION SOLUTIONS AND NETWORK APPLIANCE CERTIFY QUICK RESTORE 2.7.4
BACKUP SOLUTION FOR DATA ONTAP 6.1
Network Appliance Data ONTAP Customers Gain New Data Protection Solution
AMHERST, NH — June 4, 2001 — Workstation Solutions, a leader in innovative
data protection software, and Network Appliance™, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP), the
leading provider of network-attached data access and content delivery
solutions, today announced Quick Restore™ 2.7.4 certification for Network
Appliance Data ONTAP™ 6.1 software.
This certification allows Network Appliance customers to use Quick Restore
data protection software to backup and restore data on NetApp® filers
running Data ONTAP 6.1 operating system software. The combination of Quick
Restore and NetApp filers delivers a highly scalable data and storage
management solution that is easy to deploy and manage, while less expensive
to operate.
"Integrated support for NetApp filers has long been a hallmark of Quick
Restore," said Jim Ward, president of Workstation Solutions. "Quick Restore
2.7.4 and Data ONTAP 6.1 each introduce native Windows 2000 support,
providing our customers a new level of flexibility in enterprise
environments."
"Quick Restore’s reliability is key to our business. At Plexus, we expect
data backups to be reliable. If they aren’t, it costs time. In our business,
it’s all about time to market," explained Chuck Tomasi, corporate systems
administrator at Plexus Corporation, which provides product realization
services to original equipment manufacturers. Plexus relies on Quick Restore
software and NetApp filers to protect vital data.
The proven Quick Restore data backup and recovery software provides seamless
integration among NAS, Linux, UNIX, and Microsoft Windows platforms in
heterogeneous network environments. Quick Restore is based on the Network
Data Management Protocol (NDMP), an open standard that enables
interoperability among network-attached storage (NAS) server platforms and
backup applications. It uses NDMP for local or remote backup of NAS systems
to industry-leading tape drives and libraries.
"Our collaboration with Workstation Solutions enables both companies to
address customers’ demands for solutions that fully utilize their data and
storage management infrastructures and ensures the data availability
critical to enterprise success," said Mark Santora, senior vice president of
marketing at Network Appliance.
About Workstation Solutions
Workstation Solutions provides the Quick Restore enterprise backup and
recovery software to Fortune 1000 companies, government agencies,
e-businesses, and ISPs, such as Advanced Micro Devices, Boeing, Department
of Defense, Genome Therapeutics, Intel, Johns Hopkins, Motorola, and NASA.
Quick Restore protects data on heterogeneous networks of NAS, UNIX, Linux,
and Windows systems. Workstation Solutions was an early adopter of the NDMP
protocol and is a leader in the NDMP Working Group of the Storage Networking
Industry Association (SNIA), defining the architecture and standardization
of NDMP. Jim Ward, President of Workstation Solutions, is a co-author of the
NDMP V4 Specification submitted to the IETF. Visit www.worksta.com.

Subject: MIMEDefang 1.2 -- flexible mail scanner for virus/trojan protection
Date: Wed, 13 Jun 2001 15:52:35 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
MIMEDefang is a MIME mail scanner designed to run on Linux or UNIX
systems, and intended mainly to protect Windows e-mail clients from
mail-borne viruses. It can, however, be used for many other purposes,
such as restricting access to certain e-mail addresses to specific mail
relays, diverting large attachments to a Web server instead of keeping
them in the message, and so on. MIMEDefang requires Sendmail 8.11 or 8.12.
MIMEDefang is available from:
http://www.roaringpenguin.com/mimedefang
and is released under the GNU General Public License.
Changes since Version 1.1:
o Safer invocation of Sendmail for notification messages
o Finer control over which virus-scanners to use
o Generic "contains_virus" routines which use whichever virus-scanners are
installed on your system.
o Ability to include virus-scanner output in notification messages.

Subject: Announcing release 1.6 of the Market Analysis System
Date: Wed, 13 Jun 2001 15:53:26 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Version 1.6 of the Market Analysis System (MAS) for Linux systems is
now available. MAS is a software application that provides tools for
stock and futures charting and technical analysis.
MAS is released as free software. You can read more about MAS and
download it at:
http://eiffel-mas.sourceforge.net/
Screenshots for the MAS GUI can be found at:
http://ftp1.sourceforge.net/eiffel-mas/mas_screenshots.html
MAS 1.6 executables are available in RPM format at:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/eiffel-mas/mas-1.6-1.i386.rpm
MAS 1.6 includes the following changes:
Users can now retrieve stock data from the internet directly in MAS,
using a new "data retrieval plug-in" mechanism, instead of having to
download end-of-day data into files or a database every weekday. This
mechanism currently uses the popular QuoteMonster script (although it
was designed to allow other scripts or programs to be plugged in),
which uses yahoo's free historical stock data service. This feature
allows people to try out MAS on up-to-date data without having to go
through the hassle of manually downloading historical data into files.
Added capability to handle an open interest field in the input data - MAS
can now process futures data.
The MAS GUI can now display reference values less than 1, allowing charts
for penny stocks to be viewed with better price context information.
For a more complete list of changes, see the server and GUI change logs at:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/eiffel-mas/SERVER_CHANGE_LOG

Subject: mpatrol 1.4.4 - malloc debugging library
Date: Wed, 13 Jun 2001 15:54:45 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
mpatrol 1.4.4 - A full-featured open source malloc debugging library
The mpatrol library is a link library that attempts to diagnose run-time
errors that are caused by the wrong use of dynamically allocated memory.
Along with providing a comprehensive and configurable log of all dynamic
memory operations that occurred during the lifetime of a program, the
mpatrol library performs extensive checking to detect any misuse of
dynamically allocated memory. All of this functionality can be
integrated into existing code through the inclusion of a single header
file at compile-time. All logging and tracing output from the mpatrol
library is sent to a separate log file in order to keep its diagnostics
separate from any that the program being tested might generate. A wide
variety of library settings can also be changed at run-time via an
environment variable, thus removing the need to recompile or relink in
order to change the library's behaviour.
Changes for 1.4.4:
* Added ability to read, write, compare and remove allocation contents
files.
* Added the __mp_libversion() function to return the library version
number.
* The __mp_* functions can now be called as mpatrol_* functions when the
mpatrol.h header file is included.
* Added ability to trace reallocations.
* Fixed a problem on UNIX platforms when fork() was called and the child
process continued to make memory allocations.
* Added the --hatf-file option to the mptrace command to write out the
trace file in HATF format. Also added running statistics to the
--verbose option.
* Added the --max-stack option to the mleak command.
