Subject: Final release of THX-1138 1.1.0
Date: Fri,  4 May 2001 21:20:52 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

THX-1138 is the calculator you've always wanted (even if you didn't know
it!), short of handwriting recognition. Unlike the typical calculator that
implements the hand-held pushbutton interface (which is only appropriate
for hand-help devices!), THX-1138 takes full advantage of your computer's
high resolution display, mouse, and keyboard. Version 1.1.0 incorporates
these exciting new features:

   * Simplified base conversion interface
   * Graphs can be printed in EPS format.
   * You can edit the functions that are displayed in a graph.
   * 16 digit precision
   * On-line help is now searchable.
   * Support for European languages that even allows translation without
     recompilation
   * Works with Gnome and KDE session managers

The binary for Linux-Intel can be downloaded for free from

  http://www.newplanetsoftware.com/thx/download.php

If you are interested in using THX-1138 on a different Linux or UNIX
platform, please contact us at thx@newplanetsoftware.com

tpconfig 3.1.2 has been released. It is available at
<URL:http://www.compass.com/tpconfig/index.html>.

tpconfig is a Linux configuration tool for the Synaptics and ALPS touchpads.
The primary use is to turn off the 'tap mode' many people find annoying
(to put it mildly).

This version adds support for the 2.4.x kernel.

From: Gregor Schmid <gs@qfs.de>
Subject: qflib 0.98.1 - update of free Java library
Date: Fri,  4 May 2001 21:25:15 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

This update features advanced table editing and an experimental
package for tree traversal and manipulation.

Download shortcut: http://www.qfs.de/en/download.html

What is qflib?
==============

In developing our main project qftest, a Java GUI test tool (see
http://www.qfs.de/en/projects/qftest/index.html), one of the key
factors is the reusability of its components. To that end, many parts
have been separated into a library which has grown into a project of
its own under the name of qflib. It is open source and released under
the Mozilla Public License.

Packages include (among others):
  - elaborate logging system with tool support
  - configuration management for user settings
  - lots of GUI stuff, especially a JTable extension that supports
    sorting and filtering with only a few lines of code
  - a collection of miscellaneous utilities, e.g. a command line
    parser, a thread pool, an extension to ResourceBundle and many
    more

Apart from the source code, complete Javadoc API documentation is
available as well as introductory documentation and examples in
English and German.

Detailed information and the current version are available at
http://www.qfs.de/en/projects/qflib/index.html

Changes in version 0.98.1
=========================

This release includes a new experimental package for generic tree
traversal and manipulation and a new OptionGroup that arranges options
in a tree structure.

The highlight of this release is the new TableOptionEdit class. It
provides everything you need to edit values from a two-dimensional
array in a JTable. It features edit, insert, delete and move row
operations and has workarounds for many of the little annoiances of a
vanilla JTable. String, boolean and integer columns are currently
supported. For the next release we plan to make it more extensible and
customizable.

New Features:
- -------------

- - The new package de.qfs.lib.tree holds classes and interfaces for
  generic tree traversal and manipulation. Building on these, some
  useful TreeAdapters are provided with gui/AWTTreeAdapter,
  gui/AdapterTreeModel and option/OptionGroupTreeAdapter.

- - The option package is still improving. The option demo has been
  extended to reflect the following changes:
  - New classes TableOption and TableOptionEdit for easy to use tables.
  - The new TreeOptionGroup arranges OptionGroups in a tree hierarchy,
    displaying the tree in the left part of a split pane with the
    options for the selected node to the right.
  - The new KeyOption holds the keyCode, keyChar and modifiers values
    of a KeyEvent. These can be edited with the help of the
    KeyOptionEdit, a component that displays and records key presses.
  - The combo box of a ChoiceOptionEdit can be accessed.
  - The text of OptionEdits derived from SimpleOptionEdit can now be set.

- - The Logger class now has a set of convenience methods for the lazy.

- - For people stuck on a Unix system without a decent make, Tue T. Ton
  <chirontt@hotmail.com> has provided a shell script to compile qflib
  without using make.

Bugs fixed:
- -----------

- - The warning type was not available for Message dialogs.
- - The Meta hack in gui/EventQueue is now enabled by default for the HP
  JDK. Also fixed the delete hack.

From: David Sugar <dyfet@ostel.com>
Subject: Bayonne Milestone 6 Release
Date: Fri,  4 May 2001 21:50:20 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

Bayonne (http://www.bayonne.cx) is the freely licensed multi-line voice
response telephony server of the GNU project (http://www.gnu.org) and a
component of GNU Enterprise (http://www.gnue.org). Bayonne has
traditionally provided the ability to easily create scalable telephony
applications and original services that can be directly integrated with
traditional scripting languages and tools commonly found on free software
platforms such as GNU/Linux. Bayonne offers a wide degree of telephony
hardware support and a modular architecture thru the use of plugins.

In distributing the sixth milestone release of Bayonne, we have chosen to
focus on providing a free software platform for creating and deploying
next generation XML integrated voice applications. Traditionally such
systems have only either been available as limited proprietary software,
or only provided thru external hosting services. In providing Bayonne
with XML support, we intend to deliver a free software solution that not
only can be used for those hosting telephony services, but which can also
be integrated and deployed entirely within the enterprise if so desired.

This initial release of milestone 6 has the first functional snapshot of
Bayonne XML services. This includes a plugin which introduces a special
XML dialect, BayonneXML. BayonneXML is intended to become a superset of
the existing CallXML dialect and will provide support for additional
features and functionality specific to Bayonne. Our intent is to support
a wide body of XML languages thru plugins, including those that do fully
conform to existing XML language specs (CallXML, VML, VXML, XTML, etc),
rather than providing a server that can only execute a single dialect.
This will allow Bayonne to provide voice browsing to entirely other kinds
of XML data thru the development of additional plugins.

My decision to provide XML as part of milestone 6, rather than RTP
trunking, was based on the fact that the Common C++ XML parser is already
very stable, while the Common C++ RTP stack has only recently reached
usable functionality. Rapid progress is expected in ccRTP over the next
few weeks, and that will form the core of a new, and final Bayonne
Milestone, before final cleanup and release of Bayonne 1.0. In addition
to ccRTP, there is certainly also need for further development of URL
streaming in Common C++. While there is now a core team of committed
developers in place for Bayonne, there are many additional areas of
development where we do need and could use additional contributors. If
you are interested in helping with Bayonne development, join the mailing
list thru bayonne-devel-request@lists.sourceforge.net or send e-mail to me
directly.
