Subject: BinBuster - freeware news server and Web gateway by Oz Insight
Date: Tue, 17 Apr 2001 15:56:43 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
The BinBuster news server, offered as freeware, is a part of
the Oz Insight software suite designed for optimal handling of
Usenet binary content. It is fully NNTP complaint, and
additionally supports a number of NNTP extensions that enable
storing of only one copy of duplicated binary objects, storing
and transferring binary objects in decoded format, storing and
transferring text in compressed format, thereby minimizing
feed traffic between complaint servers, etc.
Another set of extensions enables new exciting features of the
matching client, Ozum, and Web gateway, such as preview of
binary objects and reliable identification of duplicates
_before_ downloading, and fast downloading of binary objects
in decoded format.
The Oz Insight Web gateway is a tool that provides easy WYSIWYG
interface to the Usenet, including its binary content, through
your own web browser. It enables users to preview images, and
download and save them by "point and click". No decoding needed.
See a screenshot:
http://www.ozinsight.com/webGate/tips/index.html
The Web gateway lets every ISP offer a free service to their
users similar to those that are being sold by other vendors for
a fee.
The Web gateway is available, either free with the freeware
BinBuster server, or separately as shareware. The shareware
version can be used with the full version of the Oz Insight news
server.
The Oz Insight gateway and news servers are available for Windows
2000, Linux and FreeBSD platforms.
The server will:
- Reduce your external traffic costs;
- Increase retention time without adding new hard drives;
- Automatically generate previews of binary objects;
- Store and transmit binary objects in decoded format;
- Store and transmit text in compressed format;
- Automatically detect & reject binary duplicates;
- Manage your Spam problem;
- Perform smart article expiration policy.
Most Important!!! You can make better use of the Usenet:
- Make the News attractive and easy to use for all your users,
including beginners;
- Switch your binary fans to the News and, thus, take them off
your Web pipe;
- Make them happy: your news server is faster (local) and free;
- Make your other users happy by taking a major part of the
load off your external Web link and improving its speed;
