Subject: align 1.0.0 - text column alignment filter

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

                http://www.cs.indiana.edu/~kinzler/align

`Align` is a general-purpose text filter tool that helps vertically
align columns in string-separated tables of input text. With
whitespace-separated columns, you can often use it without arguments and
it'll guess the right thing to do. Otherwise, you can specify arguments
to direct how the columns are separated on input and rejoined in the
aligned output. For example,

    $ head -5 access.log
    22.56.17.4 - 04/Dec/2000:04:08:53 GET /pub HTTP/1.0 408 - 23146
    hrl.com - 04/Dec/2000:07:17:32 GET /zen HTTP/1.0 404 272 27583
    gw.kpmg.ie - 04/Dec/2000:09:37:56 GET / HTTP/1.0 200 8135 658
    c1.aici.com - 04/Dec/2000:13:25:00 GET / HTTP/1.1 200 8135 8850
    dabs.com - 04/Dec/2000:15:04:29 GET / HTTP/1.1 408 - 12305
    $ head -5 access.log | align
    22.56.17.4 - 04/Dec/2000:04:08:53 GET /pub HTTP/1.0 408 - 23146
    hrl.com - 04/Dec/2000:07:17:32 GET /zen HTTP/1.0 404 272 27583
    gw.kpmg.ie - 04/Dec/2000:09:37:56 GET / HTTP/1.0 200 8135 658
    c1.aici.com - 04/Dec/2000:13:25:00 GET / HTTP/1.1 200 8135 8850
    dabs.com - 04/Dec/2000:15:04:29 GET / HTTP/1.1 408 - 12305

Here, `align` correctly guessed that columns were separated by a single
space character and generated an alignment using multiple spaces between
columns.

Also included in this package is `width`, another general-purpose text
filter tool that helps you work with the printing width or length of
lines of input text. For example, it can print the width, location
and/or content for its longest line or lines of input, or for all lines.
For example,

    % head -5 access.log | width -awnl
    63:1:22.56.17.4 - 04/Dec/2000:04:08:53 GET /pub HTTP/1.0 408 - 23146
    63:4:c1.aici.com - 04/Dec/2000:13:25:00 GET / HTTP/1.1 200 8135 8850

From: ib@wupperonline.de (Ingo Brueckl)
Subject: blueMail 0.04 - a Blue Wave and QWK compatible mail reader
Date: Sun, 10 Dec 2000 15:13:26 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

What is blueMail?
- -----------------

blueMail is an offline mail packet reader for Unix and other systems,
based on MultiMail which was originally developed by Kolossvary Tamas,
Toth Istvan, John Zero, and then by William McBrine.

blueMail supports the Blue Wave and QWK packet formats and will support
some different formats like FTS message bases and some Internet protocols
like POP3, SMTP, and NNTP in the future. It is designed to be a reasonable
alternative to the Blue Wave mail reader. blueMail has a full screen,
colored user interface, built with the curses library, and it also compiles
under DOS, Windows and OS/2.

blueMail is free, "open source" software, distributed under the GNU
General Public License; its current maintainer is Ingo Brueckl
<ib@wupperonline.de>.

You can get the latest version from

  http://home.wtal.de/ib/bluemail

where you can find binaries for Linux (Red Hat RPM), DOS and Windows, too.

Requirements
- ------------

 * Unix-compatible (POSIX) system, DOS with DJGPP, Cygwin with Windows, or
   OS/2 with EMX
 * curses -- tested with ncurses 1.9.3+, and PDCurses 2.2+
 * gcc (g++) 2.7.0+ -- may work with other C++ compilers, not tested
 * InfoZip, and/or other compressing archivers
 * GNU make *may* be required on some systems
 * PMODE/DJ (by Thomas Pytel and Matthias Grimrath) and UPX (by Markus
Oberhumer & Laszlo Molnar) is recommended (and used) for the DOS binary

What's new in this version?
- ---------------------------

You can find a list of new features and improvements in the history file
together with a list of new options for the configuration file since
version 0.01.

Tested Systems
- --------------

blueMail will run on multiple platforms, like

  MSDOS 6.22 (DJGPP, PDCurses)
Linux 2.0, 2.2 (gcc, egcs, ncurses, PDCurses aka XCurses)
  Windows 9x/NT (Cygwin, PDCurses)

and - untested -

  OS/2 (emx, PDCurses)
  NetBSD (ncurses)
  Solaris (curses)

Don't hesitate to have a look on blueMail because of its alpha-like version
number. Though there is still a lot of work to do, it's already fully
usable.

Xi Graphics, a privately held firm that specializes in premium graphics
support software for Linux and UNIX systems, announced today the release
of version 6 of its line of Accelerated-X Display Servers for laptop,
desktop and multi-head use. The newest version of Accelerated-X
continues to offer the high performance and stability which have come to
be associated with the Xi Graphic's name. In addition, version 6 offers
numerous new features developed in direct response to customer requests.

Some of the new features now available in Accelerated-X v6 include:

* XiG X Full Screen Extension (XiG-XFS) support for VMWare
* Preliminary USB support for Linux and Solaris 8
* Digital Flat Panels (DFP) support
* Dual View support for cards such as the Matrox G400 and Appian Duet
* Touchscreen support and TSC calibration support via the tscal program
* A totally new, dynamically loadable, I/O subsystem
* LBX and XKB extension support

"The additional features offered in version 6 are, for the most part, in
response to customer inquiries and requests," said Dan McGregor,
national sales manager at Xi Graphics. "We are particularly sensitive to
market demands and set our engineering goals in accordance with what our
customers want. This is particularly important with the popularity of
Linux on the rise, resulting in new markets and potential customers
appearing every day."

McGregor said the emphasis on customer satisfaction goes beyond product
enhancements. "We feel that our attention to the needs of our customers
is one of the things that really sets us apart from our competitors,"
continued McGregor. "Customer requests have prompted the addition of
version 6 features such as support for VMWare, USB in Linux and Digital
Flat Panels. This customer oriented attitude is also apparent in our
free technical support that comes with all Xi Graphic's products."

Accelerated-X Servers come in three configurations: desktop, laptop and
multi-head. The cost of Accelerated-X v6 is $99.95, $149.95 and
$199.95, plus shipping, for desktop, laptop and multi-head respectively.
For customers supplying the serial number of an Accelerated-X v5
server, the upgrade to v6 is half the product price. International
pricing is slightly higher. Downloadable demos for the desktop and
laptop servers are available at Xi Graphic's Web site at www.xig.com.
Accelerated-X Servers are available in boxed product form only and
include a CD-ROM, manual and release notes.

popsneaker is a powerful email filter for POP3 accounts. You can
filter emails without downloading the body of a message. Very
flexible filterrules can be defined.

NEW: I set up two mailinglists for popsneaker. One is
popsneaker-user, for announcements and discussion about stable
versions. The other is popsneaker-dev, which is for the unstable
part.

As popsneaker5 is in active development, there are frequent
releases. I will announce them and other related issues on the
new list. If you want to use an unstable version of popsneaker,
I advice you to subscribe to at least popsneaker-dev.

If you use a stable popsneaker, it would be a good idea to
subscribe to popsneaker-user, as I will announce new versions,
make notifications for bugs and help solving problems.

Subscription can be done on the webpage:
   http://www.ixtools.de/popsneaker/index.html
