hilite is a tiny utility which executes the command you specify,
highlighting anything printed to stderr, using ansi escape codes.

It's fantastic for builds - warnings and errors jump right out at you.
Useful with lots of other apps - grep, diff...

For some reason, though, bash won't run under it. I was hoping someone
might be able to help me out with that.

Subject: xpdf 0.92 - a PDF viewer for X
Date: Sun, 10 Dec 2000 15:01:32 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

I've just released a new version of xpdf, my Portable Document Format
(PDF) viewer for X.

Xpdf runs under the X Window System on Unix, VMS, and OS/2. The non-X
components of the package (pdftops, pdftotext, etc.) also run on Win32
systems.

Noticeable changes:

* Implemented separable CMYK PostScript output (the -level1sep switch
  to pdftops).
* Implemented Pattern color spaces with tiling patterns (polygon fills
  only).
* Implemented Stamp annotations.
* Implemented Named link actions.
* Fixed a really dumb bug in the TrueColor code in SFont (which
  affects both Type 1 and TrueType font rendering on 16-bit
  displays).
* Print a warning about Type 3 fonts (XOutputDev, PSOutputDev).
* Added CNS (Big5) Chinese font support (CHINESE_CNS_SUPPORT); renamed
  CHINESE_SUPPORT to CHINESE_GB_SUPPORT.
* Added Big5 support to pdftotext (with CHINESE_CNS_SUPPORT enabled).
* Fix an endianness problem in the Type 1 font code which resulted in
  an incorrect display with "-t1lib plain" on big-endian systems.
* Added "-title" switch and "xpdf.title" resource to set the window
  title.

See the `CHANGES' file for a complete list.

Source (C++ and C) is available, and it should be fairly easy to
compile for UNIX, VMS, OS/2, and Win32.

More information, source code, and precompiled binaries are on the
xpdf web page and ftp site:

    http://www.foolabs.com/xpdf/
    ftp://ftp.foolabs.com/pub/xpdf/

Source and Linux binaries are on sunsite.unc.edu, currently in
the incoming directory, but they will be moved to:

    ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/apps/graphics/viewers/X

"WebRing is one of the best ways to find great sites. Similar sites are
grouped together in Rings and each site is linked to another by a simple
navigation bar. Rings form a concentration of sites, allowing visitors
to quickly find what they are looking for. Each Ring is started and
maintained by an individual web site owner called the RingMaster.
RingMasters determine the look and feel of the Ring, approve and manage
member sites, and encourage member sites to join. RingMasters also help
to develop virtual communities based on the Ring topic. Yahoo! WebRing
is free and easy."

* Intended audience

If YOU have a web page offering

* Tips for customizing GNU Emacs or the packages
* Helpers for GNU Emacs

YAHOO! Id, this is free. If you don't have one, you can get one on the
page following "Join this ring".

Give a good description so that other people get an idea what you offer.

The only thing you must do when contributing your page is to include the
Ring navigation bar in the HTML-Code of your page. It's one line of code.

                       Gwydion Dylan 2.3.4 Release
                 Advanced Free Software Development Tools

30 Nov 2000 -- Gwydion Dylan is a portable, optimizing Dylan<tm>
compiler. It was originally written by the Gwydion Group at CMU and is now
maintained by volunteers. Eventually, we'd like Gwydion Dylan to become a
top-notch tool for building complicated applications written in a mix of
Dylan and C.

Dylan looks a bit like Pascal, C or Java. In general, experienced
programmers should be able to learn the basics in a week and pick up the
rest as they go along. Novice programmers should find Dylan no harder to
learn than Java (although less documentation is available). Dylan supports
imperative, functional, and object-oriented programming. It also provides
many LISP-like features, including multi-methods, hygienic macros, closures
and optional dynamic types, while at the same time supporting
high-performance compiled code.

Release 2.3.4 completes our list of supported platforms with the
additions of MacOS X and Win32/cygnus. For MacOS, a wrapper of the
Carbon API and usage examples are available. Bugs have been fixed, and
documentation has been updated.
