Press Release

Proven Software, Inc. announces the creation of a new division for
Linux desktop accounting. Proven Software's single user accounting
packages for linux will be redesigned and marketed through
http://www.BestAcct.com .

HTTP://www.ProvenAcct.com , which has been home to Proven
Accounting desktop and multi-user accounting software, will become
the site for Proven CHOICE multi-user accounting packages.

The creation of separate divisions for "desktop" and multi-user
Enterprise products is a reaction to differing market forces and user
demands in the two product lines. This change will allow separate
development, support, and distribution paths reflecting the
requirements of the two distinct markets.

BestAcct will be dedicated to the needs of small organizations and
individuals with accounting products for the Linux desktop. The new
BestAcct products will be available from http://www.bestacct.com by
July 1, 2000.

Proven CHOICE Accounting will be dedicated to the needs of VAR's
and their client organizations with a multi-user requirements. The
internet contact point for the CHOICE division will remain
http://www.ProvenAcct.com . Proven Acccounting single-user
desktop products will be eliminated from this site on July 1, 2000.

Proven Software may be contacted at info@provenacct.com or by
calling Mark at (800) 487-6532.

Linux is a trademark of Linus Torvalds.

Subject: fig86gnr 2.106 BETA - Figforth development system on i86 Linux
Date: Sat, 24 Jun 2000 22:51:49 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

The excellent properties of linux as a developpers platform allowed to
create a development system for i86 figForths.

This complete development system can be downloaded via
htp://home.hccnet.nl/a.w.m.van.der.horst/figforth.html.
This is version 2.106 beta. But it is the first release.
Stable releases will have a fig-compatible version number.
The generic fig-Forth documentation (OCR-ed for this occasion)
and the addenda for this Forth are included.

By using configuration files and the m4 macro processor, this system generates
tailor made assembler files.
Level one configuration decides between:
* NASM or MASM/TASM assembler layout
* Linux kernel I/O, Linux clib I/O, MSDOS I/O (classic), MSDOS I/O (file based),
BIOS booting from floppy, BIOS booting from HD
* real mode, 16 bits protected mode or 32 bits protected mode.
Once you have configured other options are invisible. So linux developpers are
not confronted with MSDOS perils.

Also present :
* Sample programs and benchmarks, assembler, decompiler, editor file i/o
* A binary distribution of lina (<12K, dictionary space 64 M). It is
portable accross Intel linux at least from 1.2.13 to the latest versions.
The full source is included so it is interesting for those who want to
study a compiler in detail. This is a 32-bit forth.
* the utility "wc" (wordcount) as an example of this Forth as a scripting language.
* A test report for 12 of the possible versions
* Separate documentation for the multi-level configuration filosofy, the assembler
example program and the screen editor
* Create bootable MSDOS floppy from linux (mtools required)
* MSDOS batch file to generate a floppy that boots into (possibly 32 bits) Forth.
....

The original is public domain. My extensions are GPL-ed or libary GPL-ed.
I transferred the copyright to the Dutch Forth Workshop, a foundation that
supports Forth and defends the GPL.

A unarmed free program will be enslaved by Microsoft. Wield the sword of GPL!

Hello, in an effort to improve the state of Linux security
documentation SecurityPortal has launched the "Linux Security
Knowledge Base". Basically it's replacing the work I did on the LASG,
and in general the format is much improved. Basically it's a
knowledge base of Linux security (go figure). All articles are under
the Document GPL license, and people are welcome to contribute.
Quality is a very important issue, so like any OpenSource project you
submit your work, and the maintainer will chuck it in (or help you
fix it/etc.). Translators are also welcome, since not everyone that
uses Linux has english as their first language (like say ... Linus
=).

The Linux Security Knowledge Base is at:

http://www.securityportal.com/lskb/

If you want to submit an article please make sure it doesn't already
exist (and if it does you are welcome to improve it) to Kurt Seifried
(seifried@securityportal.com).
