This is an announce for 'Record Management 0.8'
- -----------------------------------------------

What is 'Record Management'?
- ----------------------------
'Record Management' is a program to manage large sound carrier archives. It
is able to store singles (old records with only one song per side) and
records with multiple cuts on it, like LPs, CDs, MCs, MP3-CDs and other
sound carriers. The program is based on a database and has a GUI front end.
This makes it even for the novice user easy to use.
'Record Management' is designed to have separate database tables for the
singles and the other sound carriers. Therefore the handling for each type
of sound carrier is optimal.
If you've already stored all your CDs in a local CDDB database, you can
easily add all your CDs to the database of 'Record Management' without
retyping anything. All you've to do is inserting the CD in your local CD
drive and hit a button in the application. 'Record Management' reads the
track information from the CD and mixes it with the data of the
appropriate CDDB entry. The result is entered automatically into the
database of 'Record Management'. Since version 0.8 full CDDB support is
integrated. This means, that you must not have a CD localy stored. 'Record
Management' will get the CD data from the Internet, if available.
'Record Management' does similar with MP3-CDs. Just insert the CD with
all your MP3 files on it and mount it. Then hit a button in the program and
'Record Management' gets it's information directly from the MP3 files.

What do I need to use 'Record Management'?
- ------------------------------------------
'Record Management' uses Lesstif (GPLed) together with Xmt (Shareware) for
the GUI interface. Additionally you need Xbae (GPLed) and 'libcdaudio'
(GPLed). Currently 'Record Management' can use the databases PostgreSQL and
Informix.

Hint:
If you've S.u.S.E. Linux 6.1 or newer you've got an Informix distribution
with it. All you have to do is getting a license key (unlimited personal
license!). To get one, you've to register at Informix. It's absolutely
free!

For more details and links to the needed libraries, take a look at my
home page. The link is below.

it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

Source code for revision 4 of Werner Almesberger's LILO version 21 is
available by anonymous FTP from:

      ftp://sd.dynhost.com/pub/linux/lilo (developer)
      ftp://brun.dyndns.org/pub/linux/lilo (an alias)

And mirrored at the major distribution site:

      ftp://metalab.unc.edu/pub/Linux/system/boot/lilo (release)
      ftp://metalab.unc.edu/incoming/Linux (pre-release)

This revision adds a global option, 'lba32', to enable bootind disks
beyond the 1024 cylinder limit. The command line switch '-L'
accomplishes the same result. To be effective, the BIOS must support
the EDD packet call interface (post 1998).

This release also contains a disk utility: 'disk.com', which may be
booted from floppy or run from DOS. The result is a recommendation
whether the '-L' option will be supported by your BIOS.

This minor update (21.3->21.4) addresses a compatibility issue with
earlier versions of LILO.

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

Because I was looking for a pftp console client for Windows and didn't find
one, I've ported the netkit-ftp-0.16 client to Windows. Actually, the same
source will now compile under Linux and Windows (with Cygwin B20.1) as well.

I tried to reach the maintainer of netkit-ftp-0.16 (David A. Holland as far
as I know), because I added some features and corrected some bugs, too, but
didn't get a response so far. So, for the time being, you can get the source
from my homepage

   http://home.wtal.de/ib/freisoft

(where you can find the Windows binaries, too) or directly by

   http://home.wtal.de/ib/download/ftp-1.0.tar.gz

The changes are:

Make it compile and run under Win32.
   EBCDIC type file transfers.
   Improved remote system recognition.
Confirm dialog only regards `y', `Y' and `\n' as `yes'.
Minor changes, especially on messages, "status" and "type" command.
   Updated man page.
