The Radio Shack ProbeScope and the OsziFOX are low-cost
digital oscilloscopes that fit into a hand-held probe.
This article reviews the ProbeScope, presents its serial
protocol, and gives an X-windows program to display the
'scope traces. The X-windows program, xProbeScope, needs
only Xlib.

I found a pseudo national one and some in other cities, towns or even villages;

I think of funding one but I wanted to verify a last time with this post that
there is none yet.

Subject: Dump/restore 0.4b13 released
Date: Fri, 21 Jan 2000 21:09:02 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

Hello everybody,

A new version of dump/restore ext2 backup utilities has been released
today.

Several bugs have been fixed. See the Changelog below for details.

The dump/restore project moved to Sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net),
so you can download the releases, subscribe to dump's mailing lists, report
bugs, access the CVS repository, etc. at the following address:
        http://dump.sourceforge.net

Thanks,

Stelian.

Changelog:

Changes between versions 0.4b12 and 0.4b13 (released January 21, 2000)
======================================================================

1. Small Y2K fix in the man pages :). Thanks to Bernhard Sadlowski
        <sadlowsk@Mathematik.Uni-Bielefeld.DE> for reporting the bug.

2. Removed the requirement to build the RPM as root from the
        spec file. Thanks to Christian Weisgerber
        <naddy@mips.rhein-neckar.de> for submitting this.

3. Fixed a bug in dump related to the 'filetype' feature of ext2fs,
        causing dump to block when dumping really huge filesystems.
        Many thanks to Patrik Schindler <poc@pocnet.net> for
        helping me find this bug.

4. Fixed the treatment for an interrupt signal when dump access
        the remote tape through RSH. Thanks to Christian Weisgerber
        <naddy@mips.rhein-neckar.de> for providing the patch.

5. Fixed a bug which was causing dump/restore to display
        garbage characters instead of the remote host name.

                     Announcement of Linux Installfest
                 College of DuPage in West Suburbs of Chicago
                             January 23, 2000

What:
   An Installfest is a gathering of people interested in
   Linux with the intent of installing Linux on computers
   owned by the individuals. We are also calling it a LinuxFest
   to promote the idea of just sharing information.
   It is FREE!

WHAT'S NEW THIS MONTH:
   Note the time change, we are now running from 10 - 4.
   HELP! I am overwelmed with things to do. I have not worked
         on LinuxFest as hard as it deserves. I would like
         someone to take over the coordination. I will be happy
         to help with things like getting the rooms, and getting
         money from UniForum Chicago. BTW: If no one helps me,
         I will not totally drop the ball on LinuxFest, it will
         just not reach it's potential.

Where:
   The College of DuPage during the computer central computer expo.
      We are in a room in the building _next_ to where the sale is held.
      We are easy to find: if you go to the expo you will see our signs.

When:
   Sunday January 23, 2000
   Sunday February 27, 2000
   Sunday April 30, 2000
   Sunday May 28, 2000
   Sunday June 25, 2000
   Sunday July 30, 2000
   Sunday August 27, 2000
   Sunday September 24, 2000
   Sunday October 22, 2000
   Sunday November 26, 2000
      This is the same day as the computer expo.
      9:30-10 is the setup time.
      10-4 is the install time.
      The swap meet runs from 9-3.
      Watch the web site for changes. www.uniforum.chi.il.us/linuxfest/

Who:
   The local Linux User Groups are doing the installs.
   UniForum Chicago is the coordinating organization; UniForum Chicago has
      allocated $700 to promote and buy supplies for the upcoming installfests.
   We are _not_ associated with the expo, we just think it is convenient
      to have the installfest at the same time to allow people to pick
      up some needed hw at the same time they are installing Linux.
   I am Michael Potter, mep@xnet.com.

How:
   For Installers:
      a) Show up and install or just hang out.
      b) Bring powercords and powerstrips to loan to or donate to the cause.
      c) Bring your favorite distribution of Linux.
      d) Bring network cable and hubs.
      e) Bring foldable 2 wheel dollies.
      f) Bring your experience on how to run an installfest (I am new at this).
      g) Bring information about your Linux group so we can promote your group.
      h) Bring a banner to hang up promoting your group.

   For Installees:
      Bring your computer and all the peripherals that
         you want to work under Linux. We will not have spare monitors,
         so you will have to bring your own.
      The computer should have free disk space to install Linux, at
         least 100MB.
      You do not have to give up windows, we can install a dual boot system.
      We have software which allows partitioning a live partition
         and therefore, you do not need an open partion (just the free space).
      Back up your system before you come. Even without the risk associated
         with installing a new operating system, just moving the computer
         in your car is a good enough reason to backup critical data.
      There is no charge.

   For Socializers:
      Feel Free to stop by and say hi, there is no cover charge ;).

What is PySol ?
===============

PySol is an exciting collection of 153 solitaire card games.

Among the supported games are classics like Aces Up, Baker's Game,
Canfield, FreeCell, Forty Thieves, Golf, Klondike, Monte Carlo,
Osmosis, Pyramid, Scorpion, Spider, Yukon, and many more...

PySol may be freely distributed under the terms of the GNU GPL.

PySol aims to be Commercial Quality Freeware.

Why yet another solitaire game ?
================================

Here are some highlights of PySol:

  - freely available
  - distributed under the GNU GPL with full source code
  - currently supports 151 (!) distinct solitaire variants
  - based upon an extensible solitaire engine
  - very nice look and feel including multiple cardsets
    and background table tiles
  - unlimited undo & redo
  - load & save games
  - player statistics and log files
  - hint system
  - demo games
  - support for user written plug-ins - add your own solitaire variants
  - integrated HTML help browser
  - lots of documentation
  - fully portable across Unix/X11, Windows 95/98/NT and MacOS
  - written in 100% pure Python
  - just run it - no need to compile anything

Nice. And what's new ?
=======================

  * Implemented 2 new games: Kingdom and Maze.

  * Added a missing DLL to the Windows setup file.

  * Updated the pysol-sound-server.

Cool. Where can I get it ?
==========================

Point your browser to http://pysol.tsx.org
The PySol Gallery is awaiting your visit as well.

What do I need to start playing ?
=================================

PySol requires Python 1.5.2 and Tcl/Tk 8.0.5. Both packages are
freely available for Unix, Windows 95/98/NT and Macintosh.

The Windows version ships as a completely self-contained setup file.

BTW, there is no need to compile anything since the whole program is just
a Python script. Just run it, and that's all.
