[gtk-list] gtk combo and completion

I am using gtkmm with gtk+-1.1.1. I have a combo box. When it has focus
and I press tab I get
** WARNING **: file gcompletion.c: line 47 (g_completion_add_items):
assertion "items != NULL" failed.
$
What gives? I am not trying to do any completion with my combo. I
had hoped tab would go to the next control. Doing nothing would be
ok. How do I find out what is causing the error. I looked through the
headers
for combo, entry, and editable and didn't see anything about completion.
