Last night, Alpha Gamma Alpha Chapter voted overwhelmingly (about 85% in
favor) to adopt a new service hour policy, based on Banana Woman's suggestion
(from Mu Chi) to start a system whereby every brother and sister pledge at
the beginning of each semester how many hours they wish to do. We felt that
this system would eliminate our need for associate membership because we will
be able to bid low amounts of hours (there will be a minimum number). And
for those of us who are over-achievers, we will be able to bid high amounts
(like me, who has already turned in 66 hours as we enter our mid-term break).
I have appointed one of our brothers to draft a proposal which the chapter as
a whole will have to approve. When this is done, i wil share it with you
all. I think the biggest problem is that it will be a logistical nightmare
for the recording secretary, who records all of our hours. We also need to
come up with an idea of what to do when someone does not complete all of his/
her pledged hours. And how will this effect the number of hours pleges have
to do? Some questions which still need to be resolved, but I have great
faith.
