(Alcorn State is in Lorman, Mississippi)
I'm sorry I thought that the original message had expalined it.
Nationals will send a letter out to the chapters with all of the information
when they feel that things are straightened out.
From the beginning:
The chapter at Alcorn State was declared inactive for non-payment of dues
5 or 6 years ago. However there wass still a group of people at Alcorn State
calling themsleves an Alpha Phi Omega Chapter. APO Nationals was aware that
there was an illegal group there and was working with the Alcorn State
Administration to get these people to stop calling themselves Alpha
Phi Omega.
Go forward to about 1 week and a half ago. The "Brothers" of the group
(Not brothers of Alpha Phi Omega, National Service Fraternity) told their
pledge to go steal a bench. The pledges stole the bench off of the porch
of a house, and left in their van. A man in the house grabbed his shotgun
and took off after the pledges in his Pickup truck, he forced the van
with the pledges in it off the road and shot and killed the driver.
SO the newspapers picked it up as Alpha Phi Omega Pledge dies in Hazing
incident. The newspaper in the area even took a picture of the rock
maintained by the chapter with Our letters in Gold on the blue Rock.
The National Office is following this very closely of course. I got most
of this information from the Region III director. There is apparently
not anything that any of theactive brothers can do to help. This
Unfotunately one of the reasons that National officers are needed.
