Earlier today the following message was posted by Jim Demes in Delaware:

I spoke with National President Jerry Schroeder about this and he asked me
to share with you the following information:
"At its July 17, 1993, meeting, the National Board of Directors
censured Warren Weidman. It also requested his resignation as
Director of Region II. These actions were in response to an incident
last April involving physical force taken in anger against an active
member of the Fraternity. Such conduct cannot under any
circumstances be justified or tolerated.
"As of this writing, Warren has not yet decided on a response to
the Board's request.
"Warren is a friend and colleague of us all, and that makes the
entire situation even more difficult. Nevertheless, we cannot allow
this incident to divert our attention from the start of a new
academic year and our mission to extend the benefits and
opportunities of Alpha Phi Omega. Nor does this incident detract
from Warren's many years of dedicated service to the Fraternity and
to Region II.
"Anyone with questions concerning the Board's action is
encouraged to address them to his or her Regional Director or to me
in order to avoid potentially harmful rumors.
"Let us all now move forward in Leadership, Friendship and
Service for the greater good of Alpha Phi Omega.
