I would like welcome our new Pledges to our Fraternity and I am looking forward to their successful completion of their pledging programs and become full-fledged Brothers of Alpha Phi Omega. I also want to encourage all Chapters to make sure that every Pledge is properly recorded at our National Office and that the appropriate fees and forms are sent in to the office. Please make sure this is done as well as sending in their Initiation fees and forms once these members go Active. Remember, no one is an official member (Pledge, Active, Advisor or Honorary) until the proper forms and fees are submitted to the National Office and a membership card and certificate is received. If a Brother does not have a membership card or certificate, chances are that the proper fees and forms were never sent to the National Office for processing. All Chapters should have received their annual Chapter Reaffirmation paperwork. All of these documents and fees need to be received by the National Office no later than Nov. 15 in order for your Chapter to remain in good standing. If you have any questions, please contact your Section Chair, Region Director or the National Office for immediate assistance. This paperwork is necessary and very imporant. Again, the deadline is Nov. 15. Also this fall, please take advantage of the membership and extension programs that will be featured at many of the upcoming Regional Conferences. These roundtables and seminars are great opportunities for Brothers from different Chapters to share ideas on rush, recruiting, retention, diversity and extension and learn more about what the National Fraternity is doing to help increase membership internally and expand to new campuses. I will be at several conferences this fall and winter and I am looking forward to meeting many of you. In addition, Regional Conferences are a great opportunity to do service with Brothers from other Chapters as well as gain new leadership skills through the various APO LEADS courses that are being held. This is a great opportunity to participate in LAUNCH, EXPLORE and ACHIEVE programs, which will be offered at many conferences this fall. For more information about APO LEADS and our other leadership development programs, contact Lisa Covi, our leadership development program director at leadership.director@apo.org. But before I end, I also want to remind everyone that National Service Week is also coming up Nov. 3-9. This year's theme is "Building a Sound Mind." Information has already been sent to all Chapters and can also be obtained through the National Office or from Carla Moran, our service/communication program director at service.director@apo.org. National Service Week is a great way to promote Alpha Phi Omega and could be a way to do some pre-recruiting for future pledges next semester. It could also be a way to reconnect with Brothers who have gone inactive for some reason or maybe a project to area alumni to come and participate in with the actives and pledges of your Chapter. Yours in Leadership, Friendship and Service, Ed Richter National Membership/Extension Program Director Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity membership.director@apo.org
