I'm a bit unclear about the families. These are normal families? How are
the 3 circles (tight, close, far) arranged?
Michael, how were people assigned to certain members of your family tree
based on their gender [little bit gutsy to put it your way- by the
way...your little island of testosterone was a bit bigger than you thought,
having a large number of females each with a small amount of testoserone,
but that's my technical side, unfortunately on a touchy subject :) ]? Males
assigned to other few males left? The pledges turn around in the ceremony
[ie "meet your sponsors"?] ? I've never seen that done in my chapter but
perhaps because we are so small; multiple roles/brother. We did have that
"meet your sponsors" thing but we never turned around & we alwayd added that
the brotherhood collectively was the sponsor.

chapter (iota phi), each pledge fills out a questionaire and spends time
with our family chairs (familes are a separate group within our chapter,
since my chapter is so large, we have 3 groups (tight, loose, and close) and
each family has a brother who is responsible in pairing up bigs and lils).
After they spend time, we have a week we call secret week. during secret
week, the new pledges spend time with the family (therefore getting to know
the family better and the fraternity better) and the big bros give clues and
gifts (if they wish) to the lil bros. these clues are suppose to help the
pledge discover who their bigs are. After the week of fun, we have a day
called REVEALING...in which the pledges get three chances to guess their big
bro. its a lot of fun and a lot of mystery and trickery.
