APO is not a social GLO. Having chapter's own a house would put us in conflict with social GLOs. This is something the Founders did not want. Also, as others have pointed out, its an incredible financial burden on chapters. And it could be a potential burden for the National Org if a chapter which owned a house went under. Does the National Org take over ownership of the house? Those involved in social GLOs might be able to add more on these issues they have to face.
Personally, I view it as a bad idea.
