The legality and legitimacy of said action is this...

Section/Region/National Staff (Volunteers) serve at the descretion of their
respective Section Chairs, Region Directions, and National Program Directors
(i.e. Elected Officials). These individuals can generally hire/fire any
member of their "staff" at will, and the purpose of said volunteers is to
promote the program of their Section Chair/Region Director/Program Director
to the best of their ability, under the assumption that said elected
officials are representing the best interests of the Undergraduates to whom
they answer.

If the various Chairs & Directors are in support of volunteer registration,
and think it is a good idea, the available choices number two: either get
registered or respectfully decline your staff/volunteer position. It's that
simple.

All of the previous debate, though interesting, is moot unless a Section
Chair or Region Director wants to chime in, take and argue the position that
it is not a requirement for their Section/Region.

****

Now, on a seperate note, why does everyone have such an issue with this? It
is not as if I can't make a few calls and find out where you live, no matter
who or where you are. You can do the same for me. The only issues I can
find that might cause concern are as follows:

1. The time it takes to fill out and sign the form.
2. Having to acknowledge and sign the Risk Management policy.

If anyone wants to argue #1, they probably don't need to be a volunteer. As
to #2, if you want to serve the undergraduates of this organization, then
you need to be the one to set the example. If you want to require such
action from the Chapters, there should be little reason against filling out
this registration form.

My 2 Cents,

Todd Price

I would like to quesion the legality and legitimacy of said action..
The amedment the the manual was not mentioned at all on the floor by the
board (who would essentially be the only ones to know the information).

During the debate the databse quesiton came up where I asked the geek
question if the national office had the databse capability to do this and
the answer was no
So, what changed?
