Not sure if you mean the one at the founding, or the one today... From what
I understand it has officially changed once, but there have been minor
changes. When it was first changed in 1932, it had the name of the person
who made the new crest worked into the scrollwork, that is gone. Also it
seems like every year or two I'll see something with the drops in the four
squares as two over one rather than one over two.

True, but I don't think that this effort is designed to allow us to more
easily merge us with either Gamma Sigma Sigma or Omega Phi Alpha or for that
matter a Hostile takeover of the Kiwanis family. Some of the BSA change was
recognition that Scouting needed to serve the inner cities as well, but I'm
not sure much has changed actually changed there...

Actually, I seriously doubt many on most campus know us by our coat of arms.
My College IFC (14 Fraternities) did a quick quiz on a vary related subject.
They took the crests/COA of the 14 fraternities and blotted out names in
english or greek of the fraternities themselves and found that other than
the fraternity that the person was in, almost all had no clue on which was
which out of the others... OTOH, I do believe that if you ran that same quiz
at an Historially Black College with the NPHC, APO,GSS,KKY & TBS in the mix
that most of their greeks would do much better. Some of that is that the
NPHC greeks are much better known by colors or nicknames which are actually
on the crest (Pink and Green for AKA & Centaur for IPhiTheta, etc.).
Besides as was pointed out before, from a Heraldic point of view, the
current and proposed are identical and would have the same characteristics
described for them...
All of that having been said. I would love to know how the pre-1932 ritual
described the crest and I dislike the proped crest
