I agree scope is a factor, but its not the only factor. Even a
"private" email between two people is not private. It is relatively
easy for a third party to intercept the message. Intercept is not quite
the right word because, quantum mechanics aside, you can read a message
without keeping the intended receiver from seeing it also. The same is
not true of hard copy.
