Hello Brothers:
By now, many of our Chapters are in the final stages of rush or have
just started their spring Pledge classes.
I just wanted to take a moment to congratulate our newest Pledges and
encourage everyone to do their best to ensure we convert these pledges
into active Brothers later this spring.
I also want to thank those Brothers who are leading the Pledging and
Pledge education programs in their Chapters as well as those Brothers
who will be serving as Bigs this semester.
Please make our future Brothers feel wanted and work make them a part of
your Chapter through fellowship events, service projects and leadership
training and opportunities. Also remember that they will also be
learning from your personal example of what it means to be a good
Brother.
You should also encourage everyone, both Pledges and Actives alike, to
participate in the upcoming sectional conferences this spring so that
they understand that they are a part of a truly wonderful national
Fraternity as well as taking part in the fellowship, service and
leadership activities offered.
If your Chapter has not done so already, please begin thinking about
conducting a National Youth Service Day project on your campus in early
April.
Like National Service Week in the fall, this is a fabulous way to reach
out to get other students on campus involved in service with our
Fraternity through a special service project to benefit the youth in
your campus community. A well-publicized project and inviting the
student body of your campus to participate is a great way to do some
"prospecting" for future members next fall.
Information about National Youth Service Day was sent to all chapters
before the National Convention and will be forwarded to all Chapters
again. It is also available on the national Web site, www.apo.org.
Membership is a year-round activity which needs the help of every member
in the Chapter to be successful. In addition, we should strive to to
find ways to use our Chapter service and fellowship programs to help
increase membership.
Finally, don't forget to submit your Pledge forms and fees to the
National Office as soon as possible.
If your Chapter still has Pledge or Active membership forms and fees
still outstanding from your fall class, please submit them to the
National Office as soon as possible.
Remember, no one is an official Pledge or Active member of Alpha Phi
Omega until the appropriate forms and fees are submitted to the National
