What I miss most about not being at Nationals is just hanging out and
meeting new people and I also miss being Sergeant at Arms like I was in
Minneapolis and Philly. All three conventions I've attended (also was
at Phoenix) have been a lot of fun and I have a lot of great memories
from them.
I've been an alumni for several years and have fallen out of touch with
my chapter (Alpha Beta Zeta, Radford University, Region III, Section 81)
so I don't know if they sent any delegates. The last time my chapter
had voting delegates was when I was one back in 1996.
What I liked best was the legislative sessions, first as a voting
delegate and then as Sergeant at Arms/Floor Services. It was amazing
watching the legislative process in action and being part of the action
as a voting delegate. Rats on Parade at 3 a.m.was also fun seeing
everyone there half-awake and then hanging out in people's rooms
afterwards. I also loved singing the Toast Song at midnight on New
Year's Eve with the group of brothers that stayed for New Year's. I
also liked the frivolous motions after the end of the serious business
of the legislative sessions, especially the ones where various brothers
sang songs from the stage.
