Well now,
For all those interested, the seller of the paddles had a change of
heart and decided to end the eBay auction early so we could get the
paddles returned to Alpha Alpha. After spreading the word about this to
the chapter advisory board, the advisory chair wrote a very nice e-mail
to the seller asking her to reconsider selling the items back to the
chapter. Apparently it worked as I received an e-mail from eBay stating
that the auction had ended (2 days before it was scheduled to) and that
I had won the bid.

Returning a piece of chapter history to its rightful owners: PRICELESS!
Thank you again, Rashid, for alerting us to the sale and thanks to
everyone who helped bring a happy ending. It took less than 24 hours
from the time the message hit APO-L to us being able to reclaim the
paddles. While it wouldn't have been the end of the world, it's still
nice when things work out.
