You know, it's interesting. I just spoke with the seller of these
paddles on the phone. She lives in Bement, IL which is a very short
distance from where I live in Decatur, IL. Talk about a small world.
Anyway, she obtained these all in auction over a year ago. Her original
intent was to paint over them and use them for crafts. She never got
around to it and said that she decided to put them on eBay on a whim.
She told me that she has bought and sold several things via eBay but
never has she received so many responses about any other item.
Unfortunately she said that most of the responses have been "disturbing"
including "weirdoes" who have wanted to use them for "sick" things. One
user ID she received mail from was "spankmehard." She did say that she
doesn't want those people to win the auction but isn't willing to stop
the auction. Apparently someone already contacted her and
offered $50 for the lot if she'd remove them.
I would really like to see these pieces of Alpha Alpha's history
returned to them. If any of you who use eBay more than I do could help
me keep an eye on these paddles I would greatly appreciate it. I
currently have the high bid, but with a little over two days remaining
in the auction anything can happen.
