Brothers,
The hotel contracted with us to give us "X" numbers of rooms at our $75 rate
for December 27-30. They gave us that rate on "Y" number of rooms for 3
days before and 3 days after.
What has happened is some members have reserved SO many rooms (I have heard
at least one Section Chair say he has attempted to reserve TWENTY rooms)
that we have exceed our block.
The reason this happened is that the rooms in the block we had contracted
were taken by people holding rooms. If those people were to release those
rooms, we might be in better shape.
I understand why Chairs and others are reserving so many rooms - the problem
is that now that people are trying to get their own rooms, they can't get
them at the rate. That isn't the hotel's fault - it's the result of actions
that some of our members who are doing what they think is a good thing (and
it's not just Section Chairs - chapters are doing the same as well).
So, I'd suggest that chapters talk with their Section Chairs to see if those
SCs have reserved rooms for the chapters and, if so, start working on
getting those rooms reserved in the names of chapter members (or alumni or
whatever the case is) and out of the SCs name.
