Dear Brothers:

Monday is the beginning of our annual National Service Week.

This year's theme is "Utilizing Our Resources To Build A Stronger
Community and Nation" is very appropriate theme this year. I hope that
all A-Phi-O members -- petitioning, pledge, active, advisory and alumni
-- as well as all Chapters participate in this event as well as reaching
out to other students on campus to provide service.

National Service Week is also a great way to introduce students to our
Fraternity and possibly identify prospective members for your Chapter's
next pledge class.

As always, please share your efforts with your campus and community by
publicizing your event with your campus or local media as well as with
the National Office for the Torch and Trefoil.

National Service Week, which originally began as National Service Day in
1979, is a way for Alpha Phi Omega to make a unified effort to make our
nation a better place to live.

Don't forget to submit your report to the National Office to let the
Fraternity know what your Chapter accomplished to help build a stronger
community and nation. I am looking forward to reading about the great
projects your Chapter did during National Service Week.

I would like to thank Brothers Jason Willis and Amy Masters for
co-chairing National Service Week for the past two years.

Finally, don't forget to exercise your right to vote on Tuesday. Being
a participating citizen is part of what being an Alpha Phi Omega member
is all about.

Yours in Leadership, Friendship and Service,

Ed Richter
National Service/Communication
Program Director -- Alpha Phi Omega/USA
