Just to clarify my earlier message, the taxing authorities (through the state legislature/city government) have the rights to waive any of the taxes they impose, for non-profits. Whether they do or not is another issue altogether....in the case of Louisiana, it doesn't look like they waive any taxes (except for maybe income) for non-profits.
