Well, on NY state government time you perhaps get exemption at
hotels within the state of New York - since it would be a waste
of time for the state to tax itself.

But I know, for instance, that the federal goverment (my employer)
has to pay Maryland state hotel tax.  I don't know if this applies
in Louisiana; I just point this out because it would seem to
indicate that the hotel tax is not one that is often excused.
