In reading over the responses to my 'proposal' on Extension efforts, there seems to be a lot of assumptions on what I was suggesting. Let me make myself a little clearer.
* I do not propose that anyone try to get a chapter going at a school without the approval/knowledge of the school's officials, the National Office, or the RD or SC.
* I am not suggesting that an alumni group 'run' the IG/PG. My idea was for them to run an Info Night type event as an effort to make the students aware of APO and possibly identify students who would want to start a chapter. If none are found, the effort fails for the time being. If some are found, the alumni should step back and serve only as advisors to those students wanting to form a IG/PG.
* I don't see how this can only be done with paid 'professionals' and not local volunteers. In my area there are 2 large colleges that used to have chapters. Local alumni who have contacts could probably do a good job at finding other alumni who work for those schools (I've found one who is a prof at one) and possibly find students interesting in forming a IG, more so then a team of paid pros not from the area.
That's all I have to say on this right now.
