Cold calling is a possibility, but it opens up a whole world of
OTHER issues when Nationals goes in and asks a school about starting
something. Realistically this is also little different than going and

Having been a Section Chair, and knowing all that's involved
in running a section *well*, as well as the costs associated
with the job, is this really something that can and should be
loaded on the elected staff's backs? The job you signed up for
is to serve your chapters not to talk to each of the 1500 High
Schools in your section. (even 10 minutes a school, and 70
cents a letter is a prohibitive cost which retracts from your
main goal. This is assuming you get *zero* response) If you
are going to go out prospective for extension this way, you need
to have a very clear message and be ready and willing to execute.
Realistically without APO coming into a lot of money to
support some of these ideas, extension is going to hobble
on like it is right now. Figure 5-7 full time staff and a paid
travel budget for 3-5 years as well as all the political
ducks lining up for those staff to reach their full
effectiveness. You're looking at 10-12 million dollars.
We don't have the resouces and man power to do more than
organic growth of following up the folks that come to us.
