On paper, this seems like a good idea; however, there are many
considerations.
1) The college campus has to be willing to INVITE us to hold such an event
on the campus. Without the university's support, this can NOT take place.
2) Some universities could use this activity to view the Chapter as being
"run" by the alumni, when our By-Laws indicate that it is student-run. This
is a particular problem on certain Southern campuses that are seeking to be
re-chartered. The university administrations and the National Fraternity
both fear that the Chapter would be run solely by the alumni in that area,
and, in some cases, by the same Brothers who were active when the Charter
was removed who are now alumni.
3) It would be better to have the Section and Region staffs to come up with
a way to inform graduating seniors from high school that we exist and how to
get a Chapter going if one does not exist on his/her perspective campus.
Through this, new Chapters can grow and be assisted by neighboring Chapters
and Alumni associations, without being run by them.

I have to agree with what you say about extension efforts. Since APO does
NO advertisement, how can college students know about us before they go to
school? Most students that might have heard of us are former scouts that
might have seen us listed in a scout manual or see an Info Booth at a
scouting event.
What we need are teams of Alumni who can host Info Night events at college
campuses, with the intention of finding interested students to establish an
IG and then become a PG. This is something that local APO Alumni groups
should look at doing as a service to the fraternity.
