I was under the impression that the announcement of the Salt Lake
City bid was a work of satire. Phrases such as "the best convention
since the one 60 years ago" (referring to 1944, when there was no
national convention), and the remarks regarding experience from the
Olympics in helping to know how to secure a bid (referring to the
incidents of bribery that were, unfortunately, part of the Salt Lake
Olympic bid process) led me to believe that his message was tongue-
in-cheek. If I am wrong, then, of course, I wish the team success
in putting together a bid - the Salt Lake valley is a great place
to visit in the Winter.
