<P>This seems to be a popular topic, so I'll echo as I responded privately at first:</P>
<P>I have seen a few chapters create a document called "The Pledge Program", it is ammendable as would be a bylaw (or by simple majority, if a chapter so desires), but it is not in the Bylaws. At Epsilon Sigma, it was called an Extension Document.</P>
<P>This has the following advantages:</P>
<P>1. It keeps a defined Pledge Program easily accessbile and readable.</P>
<P>2. It keeps the bylaws what I call "light and tight", unburdened with particulars not germaine to being an operating bylaw.</P>
<P>It could look like this in a Bylaw:</P>
<P>Article IV. Pledging.</P>
<P>A Pledge shall be required to complete all portions of the Pledge Program (vide Pledge Program document), including, but not limited to: 20 service hours, brother interviews, and tests.</P>
<P>It keeps things in order, allows for ammendment, and makes the bylaws less cumbersome. </P>
<P>Whatever works for a chapter should be maintained, but I have seen this work very effectively.</P>
