My apologies, I was trying to phrase the statement so that I
wouldn't skew people to my or my fellow staff member's viewpoint.

I oppose it, but I'm not sure which way the bylaws go.

Article X, Section2 Part 1 says:

SECTION 2. SECTIONAL LEADERSHIP

(1) SECTIONAL CHAIR. The Sectional Chair shall be elected for a one year
term, or until his or her successor has been elected, by a majority vote
of those Chapters in good standing belonging to that Section that are
present and voting at a Sectional Conference. The Sectional Chair is under
the guidance of the Regional Director of that area.

I think pretty much everyone would agree that the standard practice is
that a section has its conferences that elect section chairs in the same
semester each year and that a section chair serves from one election to
another regardless of whether the conferences are in January then May or
the reverse. The one year seems to be useful for allowing the Regional
Director to not allow a section chair to continue if the section fails to
have a conference...
