Actually, Exploring went co-ed in 1971. In 1969, the BSA allowed Girl Scouts and Camp Fire Girls to be "Exploring Participants" in Exploring Posts, sort of like APO's old 'associate membership' for females. In 1971 they went fully co-ed, but each Post could determine whether or not to be co-ed or not (or more precisely, their chartering organization). This came about in part to an effort by the BSA to get the GSUSA & CFG to merge together into one single co-ed scouting organization. Didn't happened, but Exploring went co-ed as a result.
I've done a lot of research on the BSA's older youth programs, so am fairly knowledgable in this area. :)
Camp Fire went co-ed in 1976.
