Quality vs. Quantity.

This seems to be the subject of the moment, so I will
ask a few questions: How can you determine the quality
of a potential pledge? What is this abstract quality
for which we feel we must be searching? It seems that
almost all students who would consider pledging APO
have something that they could bring to our
organization. If they stick through the pledging
process, do what is required of them, and, ultimately,
become an active how can you say they were not quality
individuals?

Maybe the focus should not be on the Quality vs.
Quantity of pledges but rather on what is causing
actives (both new and old) to leave and what we could
possibly do to counter this. In other words, an
effective retention program is necessary for a
successful chapter.

The problem is, I have yet to hear of anyone who has
an effective retention program. Has anyone been
working on this problem and come up with at least a
possible solution?
