Hello Brothers,
For all who were wanting to know....
Typically, the rush events that we have are things that we already do and we
just invite people to come and rush. We have an information game night
where we have icecream and pop. We have a service event, usually a bake
sale, and there we hand out information. Our chapter plays wallyball every
Thursday, so that has become a rush event in the last two years. In the
fall, we have an information booth set up at our University's Activities
Day. That is where all the greeks and organizations set up information
tables in one area. We usually try to have either volleyball and a picnic
or basketball and a picnic. This year, for the first time, they decided to
have a WWF night where they just got together to watch Raw. And we always
have an open brother meeting in the middle of rush. We also put up flyers
with our name telling when and where events are. We have been chalking the
sidewalks for a couple sememsters now too.
These events haven't really been working for a year and a half now. I have
watched student participation in these dwindle slowly. Mine and the pledge
class after it were the last large pledge classes.
Thank you everyone who has responded. I have gotten some new ideas and some
ways to maybe revamp some of what we have been doing. Thanks again, please
keep sending ideas. It is a way to help all those chapters who are having
decrease numbers in their rushing and pledging.
