Hi everyone,
Easton Event: I hope the attendees made it home safely from the
Easton Event this weekend. The rain held off and we had fun with
frisbees, hula hoops and history celebrating our 75th anniversary
pilgrimage to Lafayette College. Personally, I had great fun meeting
new friends and seeing old friends from San Diego to Seattle and from
Dallas to Atlanta. I also want to express my deep appreciation for
all who participated - staff who came early to train for the Team
Development Workshop, those who lent a hand driving people to and from
the airport, those who helped set up and put back the rooms for the
events, the students who traveled (some under unbelievably complex
conditions) to make it to the visioning forum, the actives and alumni
who helped make the re-enactment so meaningful, those who participated
in the service project and everyone who made the pilgrimage to be
together and honor our founders.
HELP please: Unfortunately, something happened at the end of the
weekend that cast a shadow on the otherwise sunny event. As a
personal favor, I had asked Aasha (Blakely) Leahy to lend us her
hand-made APO Event signs with arrows to make it easy for visitors to
locate our events. After driving them in from Michigan, setting them
up and receiving compliments on how much it helped people find the
event, we discovered all but one of these signs had disappeared. I am
very sad because I feel responsible for their disappearance since I
was helping with this event and neglected to collect the signs
promptly.
There is a phone number on the back of these signs for people to call
if they are found. I'm hoping that we can recover them quickly
without any further sad feelings. If you know how to obtain one of
these signs or have any information about their whereabouts, please
contact me at this address (my phone: 732-572-1901 - but I'll be out
of town for a week) or call the number on the sign (ask for Craig).
Aasha needs those signs for an event in two weeks. In return, we will
be happy to make available the instructions to create the signs which
are hand-painted on alumnium siding and spell "APO event" reflective
tape. In addition, the three arrows on separate pieces of siding are
also missing and we need them.
We have been able to retrieve only two of the signs (three are still
missing). Happily, the brothers who thought they were souveniers and
that it would be fun to play a prank like stealing the gavel realized
that we were upset because we thought people had stolen them and
returned them to us promptly. As our brothers, please help us correct
this miscommunication.
