I think the reponse to the person about APO lobbying for Gun control has
to go like "Alpha Phi Omega can not do this as a non-profit organization,
however it has no problem with indiviudal brothers who do such things
and/or belong to such organizations." If that was the response and he
doesn't get it, send him the text of 501(c)3. :) Also point out that there
are other student groups that are equally inappropriate for doing that
sort of lobbying. Would he want A Psi O (The Drama honorary) to lobby?

Let me give another situation that while I don't have a specific example
for, I've seen things have been close. I'd like various people's response)

The Klu Klux Klan and/or American Nazi Party are holding a
march/recruitment drive near the university.

The group on campus that are targetted by the KKK positions (Hillel,
Student Catholic Union, Asian Student Aliance, Black Student Union, Gay &
Lesbian Assoc.) are planning an event in response. The chapter is invited
to help. The chapter wants to accept, but there are a couple of students
concerned about becoming political...

1. Does University sanction makes things easier? (For example, University
president scheduled to talk or University providing food & drink @ event)

2. Does political "cover" help? (Young Democrats & College Republicans are
both participating as organizations.)

3. Does type of event type matter? (On campus rally vs. counter march to a
rally.)
