Dear Brothers,
I just wanted to comment on what I thought were very fine efforts that were
made at the Chapter Program Workshops which were held recently at Rutgers
and Eastern Illinois universities.
I had the privilege to serve as a staff member at both locations and came
away with a lot of enthusiasm as well as the knowledge that a lot of
chapters will getting some strong doses of Leadership, Friendship and
Service from a group of very enthusiastic brothers. (particularly from the
SURGE and Thundercats groups -- you know who you are!)
I learned a lot and also had a lot of fun getting know the brothers at these
CPWs. I am quite confident that they will be sharing much of what they
learned this summer with their chapters this fall.
Kudos to Louis Sapirman and Keith Rielage (the weekend directors at Rutgers
and Eastern Illinois, respectively)... Both of these brothers did a superb
job in directing these weekends. Their staffs also did a tremendous job.
It was a pleasure for me to work for Keith, as only four years before, he
signed on to work for me on a CPW staff..... That's what I love about our
leadership development program ---- today, you're teaching someone and in a
few years, you may be the person working on their CPW or LDW staff.
As for the students who attended any of the CPWs this summer, some may have
made a friend for life or perhaps the beginning leadership experiences for a
future advisor or a future national board member --- you just never
know!!!!
I would like to thank all of the brothers who served as CPW directors and
staffers (as well as the National Office staff) for all of their time and
effort --- you have performed a valuable service for our Fraternity through
developing our chapter leaders.
For those who missed an opportunity to attend a CPW, there are some slated
in the fall and winter around the nation. And as always, there is usually a
CPW scheduled somewhere across America during the summer months --- more
information will be available on the national web pages, APO-L, T&T and
other sources, so keep your eyes and ears open for more details.
Again, congratulations on a job well done!!!
Fraternally,
Ed Richter
National Service / Communications Program Director
