Brothers,
Good morning. The good news: Norman has been spared, according to our
Section Chair (who lives there). Damn, that was close!
Looks like Stillwater was spared too. The outskirts of Tulsa have received
minimal damage, according to local radio. In short, all 3 chapters are
still here.
Bad news. Well, if you've seen the footage on TV out of Moore, OK, it
ain't a pretty sight. The local media say that this thing may have been an
F5, the worst of the worst. As you may have noticed, the casualty and
fatality numbers continue to rise. According to the local news (Tulsa), the
fatalities for OK City area alone are around 35-40. 5 fatalities in
Wichita, Kansas.
Can't say we're totally out of the woods. We're still in for some nasty
weather, but probably not nearly as bad as it was last night.
If you want to help, the Red Cross hotline is 1-800-help-now. A little
tip: it's easier for them to accept cash donations and purchase relief
supplies locally. If you do make a donation, you can have it earmarked for
tornado relief; one of their volunteers will tell you how. They will,
however, take donations of flashlights, batteries, gloves, rope, and other
tools.
LFS,
Phil Dore
