I agree with the observation that, I believe, Brother Cook made
that attitudes are because of people not gender. I would though make a
clarification. There is no genetic signature (or only in the slightest)
that determines how we interact based on gender. But there is societal
training. We have not yet reached a time when most in society interact the
same, have the same interests and attitudes regardless of gender.
So, yes a given female brother may fit very well into a previously
all-male chapter or a male brother may feel uncomfortable in a all-male
setting. I do not think these are necessary bad things. I applaud efforts
to find better ways for society to inact. What I disagree with is that
their is no difference in the way on average a all-female, co-ed, or
all-male chapter would be. We have not reach a time (nor would it
definitely be better) when the gender make-up would make no difference. It
is for this reason that those chapter remaining all-male should be allowed
to experience this different way of doing things, which they continue to
choose.
