Some cold hard facts about APO/APQ

Hello, Brothers: It's Jumpy back and representing again after a LONG
hiatus. How's everyone doing?

I know this whole all-male/APO/APQ debate has been played out, every
point conceivable and imaginable has been discussed. I will not
belabor any prior posts point, but just to give you the bottom line of
the ramifications of our current coed state, particularly as it
pertains to "A-Phi-Qs" and our "unofficial" sister sorority, Gamma
Sigma Sigma (note: any posts commenting to the contrary will not be
dignified with an answer, so save your keystrokes).

As far as all-male chapters not being allowed to charter, be prepared
for the following (some of you may already know)

1. Underground initiations: We all know this goes on, and please DO
NOT come at me with any bylaw, amendment, resolution, what have
you--those who know me already know I know them in my sleep, forward
and backward, in Spanish and French (something like that). Anyway, a
lot of A-Phi-Qs are brothers by ritual only, and that's alright with
us fellow brothers, as long as "they know their $#!t", something I
can't vouch for at many of the coed chapters I have associated with. I
am BTW an "official" brother, member #238281, Life Member #17092, but
I give ALL initiated brothers much love.

2. Loopholes: Without going into detail, if I really wanted to, I
could take a chapter where I live here and make it an A-Phi-Q chapter
and leave very little, if any evidence of discrimination. I wouldn't
even have to start a "Phyette" or a "Jewels" service club. An ACTIVE
chapter, mind you. There is no existing sanction/penalty for
converting a chapter all-male and IMHO would create a serious brouhaha
if Nationals ever tried to impose one. But I would not do such a
thing, particularly because no bruh is an island (smile). You may all
breathe easy now.

3. More debate on APO-L: But hey, you got what you wanted in Alpha Phi
Omega, what's life w/o a little rain?

4. "Honorary" brothers like Luther "Luke" Campbell (lead rapper of the
2 Live Crew most known for his song "Me So Horny")--oops he has
already been exposed to the ritual and had A-Phi-Q brothers chant on
his popular college song "Fraternity Joint" (btw, does anybody know if
"Fraternity Joint" has been made into a music video--Rumor is out that
a video exists, but I cannot conform).

Well, anyway, you get the point. If you have the energy to collar
every underground brother, to smother the love and bond between Gamma
Sigma Sigma and Alpha Phi Omega, and to track every underground
chapter (btw even with the advent of the Internet I can safely say you
are not being very successful), then more power to you.

FOR THE RECORD, I do not condone physical hazing under any
circumstances. OTOH the most effective form of hazing does not
involve any form of physical contact and is thus more difficult to
prove AND I HAVE SEEN THIS "INNOCENT" FORM OF HAZING AT THE MOST COED
AND LIBERAL OF CHAPTERS.

I think that the rift between A-Phi-Q and A-Phi-O is because the
mainstream brothers do not want Alpha Phi Omega to be perceived as a
"ghetto" fraternity, therefore they do whatever is possible to
eliminate that "threat". That IMHO offends me and I know it exists.

Well, I must go as it it getting late. Responses are always welcome>
(Better put on my asbestos lined drawz).

Peace.
