Whether or not insurance is required depends on what you are doing at the
camp. If you are using it for a conference, you are just the same as any
other group renting the camp and BSA policy says that outside groups using
the facilities must show liability insurance.
If you are doing service for the camp, you do not need to show liability
insurance -- though some councils used to be confused about this. The BSA
rep on our board helped clear up some problems with this a few years ago. If
you need the details, the best thing to do is probably to contact our
Executive Director, Pat Burke (aponed@aol.com).
My understanding is that if you schedule a service day/weekend and CPPC at
the camp, you shouldn't have to show liability insurance. Also, in my
experience, if a chapter establishes a relationship with a camp where they
are doing regular service projects, the camp will often offer to host the
chapter for other events without asking the insurance question.
