Reading over what our founder set out to do when founding APO, it

[Jesse]
You are right, he actually numbered it second.

Granted I have not had the privilege of meeting the man or
was anywhere near being when APO was found, but I think that one of
APO's goals was and should still be the promotion of world peace. =

[Jesse]
I totally agree with you.

I would love for our Purpose to be amended to reflect that and at the
National and International levels programs adopted to incorporate
that.

[Jesse]
This would be a totally Alpha Phi Omega-like action.

The fact that we are now at war with Yugoslavia should be a matter =

of interest to brothers of APO an organization striving to promote =

global peace.

[Jesse]
One person made mention that how can we make peace after we have bombed t=
hem
as much as we have. I do not like war as much as the next person, but wh=

you have a being slaughtered, and genocide is taken place. what do you do=
=2E I
often look back at what happen in Tienemen Square in China
and the countless deaths that occurred and NATO just denouce the acts but=
 the
blood was shed and still marks the streets.

We are probably one of the biggest organizations in the nation. Why not
make a statement on behalf of Alpha Phi Omega? I don't know politics or =
where
we fit in to the mix. But whatever statement we make, it should make the=

nation take notice. Or if not make a statement and get involve that way,=
 why
not take the lead in setting up a national care-rasing project for donati=
ons
for the fleeing refugees.

I am not saying that as organization we should take sides, but rather
that it should be an issue. The mandate set down by our founder to
eliminate the need for war and develop leaders that can solve the
world's problems by peaceful means has not come about.

I would encourage all members of APO to think how they can promote
peace and build leaders that will promote peace and better yet how APO
National and International can achieve these grand objectives of our
founder.

Nice note, Oscar
