The best answer you could give when faced with the question of whether your
chapter is the so-called "Gay Frat" on campus is that Alpha Phi Omega is open
to all students, black or white, gay or straight, etc.etc, as long as that
student wants to exemplify the principles of leadership, friendship and
service. Why say anything more? It is the truth, right?

If you try to "defend" your chapter from this "reputation", you may
unwittingly enforce the stereotype that there is something WRONG with being
gay. I hope that isn't an attitude that any of us want to promote.

In short, accept all brothers for who they are, and don't be ruled by hatred
or fear. Understanding and acceptance are much better paths to take.

<< My chapter has, in the past month, been labeled as the "Gay Frat" on
campus. Granted, a large percentage of our membership is
homosexual/bisexual. And some of our current pledges are
homosexual/bisexual. We are currently having problems with our campus
because of this. We also seem to be having a few problems within our
chapter on this issue. Not so much from the brothers, as much as it is
 possibly from our pledges. >>
