There might not be "more time" in that semester, but you can make the
person a neophyte.  What Gamma does is the next semester, the neophyte must
finish all requirements they did not initially finish, plus chair a service
project and run a pledge meeting.  I was a neophyte the semester after I
pledged, and that I looked at that semester as my chance to prove to the
brotherhood that I belonged with them.
