hi all,

from the discussion, it seems that the summer convention may be losing
out, but i would like to bring up a few other points.

who says that legislation must be done in the summer? if there is no
legislative session, then chapter representation and attendance is no
longer an issue.

what if the summer convention was more the fellowship and workshop side
of it? maybe make it similar to the SRW but for undergrads, make it the
same weekend, have it in kansas city or nearby to the national office.
(independence doesn't strike me as a city large enough to hold a
convention). hold it the same week as the SRW, then the section staff
can just take an extended vacation, attend convention and SRW. hold a
CPW during this time, hold an LDW during this time, go to the national
office. you can even throw in a few athletic events to make it more
fun. have region compete against region?

there are a multitude of things that can be done. i know from my
experience at the past convention and from several voting delegates, is
that they would have liked to have participated in some of the workshops
and events (most especially LDW), but couldn't because of other
convention committments. a summer convention of this nature could give
that opportunity for a large group of people to get together and
participate in these activites.

just my thoughts on the issue,

john s.
