In no particular order:

1. I believe the summer nationals in the 50s were held in a scout camp, or at
least one of them were. Outdoor facilities, potential for service projects
for all, MINIMAL COST, etc.

2. If we're trying to schedule a nationals for a time when no school is in
session, so that all may attend, that is great, but even at Christmas, only
50% or so of active chapters send one or more brothers. In the summer, some
will probably not make it, but some who are always booked up at Christmas
might go. The change in attendance would probably not be too noticable, if at
all.

3. I challenge the 2002 bidders whoever they are to help APO solve this
dilemma. Even if all bids are gonna be for Christmas, for the sale of
comparison, get a set of hotel costs and potential travel costs for a summer
scenario. All it'll take is a few extra questions when interviewing each
hotel- real minimal stuff. Then we'll all be one step closer to evaluating
this idea.
