Brothers,
I was a voting delegate at this past convention. I was on the floor for
all of the debate. I stayed up for rats. By the time I got to take a
1.5 hour power nap, it was 6 a.m. (session began again at 9 a.m.) And I
was ready to work during that session as well. I even helped out with
the Pittsburgh in 2000 bid presentation. The other voting delegate from
my chapter was right there with me. And he even sat on a ref. comm. So
he was in meetings longer than I was.
With all that in mind, I had a great time a nationals. Yes, I was
tired. but that is part of the fun. and I am sure that I am not the
only brother who feels this way.
the one thing that helped out during the session was support from my
chapter delegation. We always had something to eat or drink, and if we
needed something more, our brothers were ready and willing to help us
out. (i know most of my chapter brothers are not on this list, but a big
thank you to all of them)
if your chapter does not have this support for one reason or another (ex.
delegatons consisting of only voting delegates) your section and region
staff most likely will be willing to help. the staff in my section (62)
was running around like crazy to help the delegates from chapters with
small delegations. (thanks again!)
some brothers may argue that there needs to be some changes. they have
every right to. however, i did take away any bad memories from the
conference, lack of sleep and all. i had fun while perfoming the
privledge of serving the national fraternity and my chapter as a voting
delegate. i still found time to socialize and party with brothers
from all over the country. all these memories i will remember for a long
time to come!
see you in 2000!!!!
